A very successful President’s Three Bowl Triples Day was held on Saturday with over 50 players enjoying the magnificent winter sunshine. The day is an initiative of, and sponsored by, Alan McLeod as a way to recognise the work of the Presidents of both the ladies and the men’s clubs

The day is in a format to give all members an opportunity to have a fun day and a chance to win some prizes. Teams are randomly determined – a ‘Joe’s Special’ – and they play two games, one before and one after a sausage sizzle lunch.

Again the conditions of the greens matched the weather and this added to the enjoyment of the day. The winners on the day were Phyl Christie, Mort Schipp and Peter Davies. They finished their second game in a rush picking up 17 shots over the final four ends to give them a narrow overall win!

Second place went to Jim Macklan, Margaret Downey and John Monks

In second place were Margaret Downey, Jim Macklan and John Monks. Jim Madden, Graeme Watson (a visitor from Whittlesea) and Denise Lidbury combined well to come in third. The final place getters were Stan Peck, Paul Douglas and Rose Farrington.

Ken Drew, Reg Endall and Ron Cox had the best last game to take home some prize money!!

While this event was happening at Tuross our Men’s Pairs Champions, Peter Bird and John Fahey, were playing in the Champion of Champion Pairs in Tomakin. They played the Moruya Champions in the first round and played well to record a good win.

In the afternoon they played Jay and John Breust from Narooma. Bird and Fahey started well but found the father and son side from Narooma too strong and bowed out of the competition.
