The Tuross Head Men’s Bowling Club held another very successful Classic Pairs event last week. Players travelled from as far as Sydney and Lakes Entrance to compete for the $3,300 in prize money.

Despite the very tricky windy conditions there was some high quality bowls played over the three days. Once again the ever reliable Bowls Organiser, Andrew Farrington, had everything organised superbly and the event ran very smoothly.

Three pairs managed to win all six of their games and shots difference was needed to separate them for the top places and prize money. Previous winners, Mark Kesby and Dave Roberts, came in first with a shots advantage of plus 111. Chris Pollock and Shane Quinlivan from Moruya came in second with six wins and plus 81. Bega’s Linton Rydell and Howard Blacker were the the third six game winners and their margin of plus 69 put them in third place.

Matty Morton and Shane Cooper from Bodalla took home fourth place prize money with 5 wins and plus 64 closely followed by Lakes Entrance player Kel Brandhoj and his partner Phil Burns from Merimbula on five wins and plus 58.

A big thank you to every one who assisted. Special thanks to Stephen Hodge for arranging sponsors and all the staff at the Club for their assistance. Once again the greens are a credit to the work of Tim Watson and his team.

We now turn our attention to local Championships with the Men’s Triples to be played in the next week closely followed by the Mixed Pairs.
